My name is Celeste Bezuidenhout and our family has been in Korea since 1999. We had originally planned to be here only three years, but every following year we would say that we are staying three more years. Now our plan is to remain in Korea until God calls us elsewhere.
We came to Korea seeking a change in our lives and God has surely changed us. We came here thinking that earthly goods and status were important; now we know that our treasure is in heaven and that your status with God is most important. We have come to love the Korean people as our own family and Korea as our home. Although we are foreigners in Korea, God's children are all foreigners in this world; our true home is in heaven with God.
Sure, there is a lot of pollution and my chidren do not have a yard and a dog, but Jesus has promised to make that up to us in heaven.
The unique lifestyle in Korea has spoiled us so much; we couldn't easily return to the life we had before. Where else can I see my husband, children and friends throughout the day and still get all my hours of work done? Where else can we live comfortably financially as we don't have to pay housing or untilities? Where else can my children choose between numerous art and music schools all within walking distance from our home? Where else can we use public transport to such an extent that we can do without gas and ar insurance bills? Where else can we have enough holidays and money to travel frequently?
But most importantly, where else can sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and His soon return be part of my job description?
