Q. What’s the weather like in Korea? Are there four seasons? What type of clothes should I pack?

A. Korea has four seasons. You should arrive with clothing appropriate to the season. The summer is very hot and humid. Winter does have some snow, and it can get very cold and windy – please bring a warm coat. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons but they are short. Korea also experiences some heavy rains during monsoon season so rain boots are very useful.

Clothing sizes in Korea are traditionally smaller, but sizes are getting bigger, however they are not as readily available. The sizes at many of the street markets and discount stores will not fit the average Westerner. Larger clothing sizes can be found in areas near U.S. military bases throughout Korea.

Shoes are probably the most difficult to find in Korea. The largest women’s size in Korea is equivalent to a U.S. size 8 and for men, U.S. size 10. Considering the limited size selection, please bring shoes from home, especially shoes for church and teaching.
