Q. What is the transportation system like in Korea? What are the different transportation options?
A. Transportation in Korea is fairly extensive, cheap and simple. Major cities like Seoul, Busan, and Daeju have their own subway systems that are easy to navigate (station stops are in Korean and English). Every city, no matter how big or small, also offers an extensive bus system. Taxis are also readily available.
Traveling between cities is also convenient, fairly cheap and fast. You can travel by train or bus to any place in Korea, and most of the institutes are located near a train, subway or bus terminal. The buses, subways and trains run frequently so any mode of transportation is convenient, although transferring may sometimes be required.
Most cities offer a rechargeable transportation card that can be purchased at convenient stores or newsstands. The average cost of one local subway or bus ride is less than one U.S. dollar.
