Subject  |    SDA Language School 40th Anniversary 09-11-12  |  Hit : 2190 Name  |    Henry Oh     SDA Education’s Director Kim, Si Young successfully carried out the meaningful 40th Anniversary Celebration on September 18, 2009 at the Seoul English Institute Church venue. The celebration began with the presence of the Northern Asian Pacific Division President Lee, Jae Ryong, Korean Union Conference President Hong, Myoung Kwon, Seoul National University Professor, a former director of the Ministry of Education Professor Moon Yong Ryn and associated leaders and the important denomination leaders, missionary teachers, and staff members numbering over 650 attendees. Dr. Lee Jae Ryong gave the congratulatory remarks stating “I hope that SDA Sahmyook Language School will become a precious instrument for revealing God’s commission through the community service.” Seoul National University’s Professor Moon Yong Ryn said that “I attended SDA as a university student as a young man,’ “SDA Language Institute brought great treasure to Korea,’ and ‘has given a valuable direction in the lives of many.’ The celebration was more meaningful due to the presence of six first year missionaries such as David Whitaker-the 1st coordinator, Doug Havens, Janine Conley Dillon, Nancy Kim, and David Belsh . The second director Pastor Maurice Bascom and the first coordinator shared their memories of the institute at the early stage which touched the hearts of the attendees. Pastor Bascom, quoting Philippians 2:5, stated that the reason for the institute being so successful were due to the blessings of God and the dedicated service of the missionaries who served with the mind of Christ. David Whitaker stated that “The success of the institute is not based on the deeds of any men, but the providence and blessings of God,” and he gave all the glory to God. All the first year missionaries jointly stated that when the institute first began, they had faced so many obstacles and problems, however, the reason the institute was so prosperous and has grown successfully during the past 40 years is truly a blessing from God and His goodness. Following their reminiscence of the past, Pastor Kim, Si Young made a proclamation of the vision for the future. Through this proclamation, he expressed the institute’s new direction using the three visions for the future. In the past, SDA Language Institute has been focused only on teaching of foreign languages. However, it will carry on its business into three areas and will expand its growth. Out of three business proposals, the first one is to make its education program to be communicative education where it prepares to meet the systematic lifelong learning education from kindergarten programs to adult business programs. Secondly, it will spread out to Door-to-Door Education where it seeks after clients to fit their schedules and locations to meet their educational needs with the variety of programs. Thirdly, carry out practical Education that is prepared on-site education where total immersion English education is carried out through living practical experience. Practical English Programs at Yang Pyong Camp - KyoungKi English Village, Kwan Oack Camp – Seoul English Village and overseas education program in the Philippines and the USA where experiencing practical English in comfortable facilities at a pleasant environment. These language centers are not there for only English education but character development as well. Under the motto of ‘Embrace the World,’ we made a practical declaration that we are moving head to make our company the most well known company (SDA the Best!), offering a life long education (SDA in Life!) and sharing the knowledge we have (SDA with You). Commemorating the 40th anniversary event, SDA Education held the Bible camp from July 31 through August 2 at SahmYook University. From September 28 through October 3 SDA will hold overseas evangelism to continue its 40th anniversary. There will be 6 evangelisms in Tanzania and 10 evangelisms in Rwanda. With a thanksgiving in heart for the kindness of Lord our God; SDA Education plans to leap forward in progress as the best leading evangelistic center and as Korea’s leading education corporation.
