SDA Samyook Language School Breaks Ground for Seoul English Village
March 30 2009, Seoul, South Korea
SDA Samyook Language School (CEO, Kim Si Young) is in charge of managing the third English Village, Kwanak Camp, of Seoul, along with Kyunggi English Village. Mayor Oh Sea-hwoon; President of Seoul City Assembly Kim Ki-sung; two members of the National Assembly (Kim Sung-sik and Kim Hee-cheol); Kwanakgu District Chairman Kim Hyo-gyum; along with 21 other politicians and 1,000 Kwanakgu residents attended the groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony was held on the 25th of February 2009 in Naksungdae Park in Naksungdaedong, Kwanakgu. The camp is a 29.6-billion-won construction plan (the land cost was W13.8 billion and the construction will be W15.8 billion).
The Kwanak Camp is the 3rd English Village, after the Pungnap Camp and the Suyoo Camp, in Seoul. Its size is 20,391m2 with an underground level and three ground levels. Its total area comes to 7,040m2, and it will be completed in February, 2010. Seoul City is planning to differentiate the Seoul English Village, Kwanak Camp, from the other English villages and make it a representative brand of all the English ones.
The Kwanak Camp is located near Kwanak Mountain and Naksungdae Park, so its priority is given to nature-friendliness. That is why they invited public architects and consulted local environmentalists and ecologists.
The camp is equipped with 30 classrooms for hands-on and small group activities. The entire facility can accommodate 300 students with the walls and floors made of wood, an environmentally friendly material. It will be the most advanced and environmentally friendly one.
Activity-oriented programs will be conducted, in the hands-on and activity classrooms, in order to invite students' active participation. Long-term, the program hopes to replace overseas study and will allow students to commute back and forth from their homes.
The educational goal of the camp is to instill a global perspective through the teaching of other cultures. The plan, of making the area one of lifelong education, will be achieved by linking the camp with the excellent educational infrastructure of Seoul National University in Kwanakgu.
SDA Samyook Language School has been recognized and entrusted with the management of the Yangpyung Camp of Kyunggi English Village in Kyunggi Province. SDA's successful management of Kyunggi Village led to them being chosen to manage the Kwanak Camp. In other words, SDA Samyook Language School has been recognized for its excellent SDA English education programs, so its brand value has increased. Political leaders have also recognized the excellence of the English education programs of SDA Samyook Language School.
Because of its excellent management of the Yangpyung Camp, it is certain that SDA Samyook Language School will develop exceptional programs and write yet another success story with the Kwanak Camp.
